What is Interoperability ?
An IoT ecosystem relies on the successfull integration of varied peices of technology to provide a solution or perform a required function. Device and technology manufacturers each have their own way of designing their product and our teams find ways to exchange data with IoT devices to best fit the use-case.
IoT teams will quickly use the raw incoming data for graphs, dials and guages, but real value from data starts when it is used in conjunction with Analytics, report, Data science and automated control.
The simplicity of linking these service is a measure of the interoperability of your platform and Cypernex SaaS platform creates a standard on which disparate systems can communicate and exchange high level command and control instructions.
Where might this interoperability be used?
IoT devices as a whole work on the basis of sending their payload to an end point (often an MQTT broker). This data is then read in by an MQTT client and processed. For the client reading data into the pipeline its a lot like listening to a radio station, tweeking the dial to capture a channel and listen. You may get the signal but have no control over the quality, regularity or suitability of that data for your purpose.
Data integrity and fitness for purpose is managed by the programmer who developed the connector.
Cypernex by comparison owns the device, its sensors, the data topics sent by the sensor, the device, firmware, sensor calibration, the installer, developer, device location and service history and more.
Data integrity and fitness for purpose is managed by the platform.
